ABOUT
Rachel Murphy is a West Auckland based artist and ceramicist, creating work inspired by nature - from leaves, to landscapes, dramatic skies and the ocean. Through the incorporation of 24k gold leaf into her pieces, Murphy creates luminous works that have a sense of opulence. Each piece holds connection to her memories, both old and new and love of New Zealand.

COMMISSIONS
SKY CITY GRAND HOTEL
320 Pieces for every room in the Grand Hotel. The brief was to create pieces based on currents works to their colour palate, the sizing needed to be modified and within a very tight time frame of 6 months from conception to completion.
PRIVATE COLLECTOR
The brief was to create two egg shaped pieces to go into a collection with other egg pieces collected from travels around the world. The collector wanted bold sunsets, with both water and land featured. Rachel worked with the client to create the right shape and proportions, providing drawings and colour palate before proceeding with final pieces.
PRIVATE COLLECTOR
The brief was to create a pairing based on an existing piece, with a much larger piece. The client wanted less visible land with dramatic skies and full gold interior.
